Archangels in the Wind

This past March brought the windiest weather on record for Michigan. Meteorological phenomena are not paid attention to much unless it’s especially wild. It just floats by us – taken for granted – expected to be present, and not realized that behind these expressions of nature live higher intelligences that are all in their own evolutionary pursuits. Those in the western world, especially those within Christendom call some of these beings the Archangels.

If we don’t try to experience this moment deeply enough- when high winds move through, stealing our breadth – and try to take in more fully what is occurring within ourselves as well as what is spread about before us we will be living in an illusion- almost in a dream. If we can still only imagine a materialistic image of hot and cold pressure systems expanding/contracting and can only bring the rotation of the earth, the pull of the moon and the fact that we live by a large body of water into our moment to moment conceptions of the world we are apart of then reality will always be veiled. All these mundane occurrences have lost the content of a spiritual kind. It isn’t just the absence of aesthetic abilities – or a trivial loss of the ability to grasp the providence of god or the beauty of mother nature but this dullness to what meets us most intimately is making people sick- causing them to be prone to illnesses of all kinds.

What a difference ordinary experience can be when it begins to dawn within that these higher beings, these messengers of the gods truly work in the phenomena that we experience in everyday weather. Our concepts, ideas, and these mental images we have within that we color our attitude towards weather conditions have become so powerful that the spirits behind matter are not perceived. Our experience – our thinking and feeling becomes decadent- remains purely mechanical and abstract unless we spiritualize our concepts. Some of this illusion of reality is instilled through the pedagogy of natural science and modern physics and even in the world of religious consciousness these beings perhaps were never given permission to project into physical reality – a place that we may have only gave modern science access to- causing us to live in other sorts of illusions. It is so healing – the art brought by Rapheal – to find that the air that is found outside- the air i have come to know in material concepts and in the diagrams of temperature fluctuations in air pressure can now be spiritualized – be thought of and felt to be of the same essence, of substance that I take in through my inhalation of air. The process that remains elusive with the psychological and physiological sciences, that gives me the ability to produce speech along with all the other faculties of man’s soul and spirit that links him to heaven becomes a conscious spiritual communion. This is how these angels of higher realms intend to heal us- through our very use of language – in the substance of what we bring in feeling and thought when speaking or writing not only the cadence and tone of an auditory sense but the hidden forces that remain concealed to normal vision. We must raise ourselves up (spiritually with our consciousness )into the air to meet them.

This year has brought new impulses that we each will walk into or rather already did. As weather patterns come and go we can find that there is a special intelligence that governs celestial orbits, that works in the rushing winds, and in these currents of air weaves the holy spirit which has become much too externalized through our evolution, can begin to be realized within. There is no severance between a sense organ- its experience and the fabric of the spiritual world that I have perhaps only now begun to see. I have been inhaling this spiritual mana, these spiritual impulses that live in the air, and it is no longer just a rush of frigid air that I turn my nose up at but it is an actual feeding of my spiritual organs by the very beings who bring me life. As our antipathies for this and that lessen the spiritual world and its inhabitants have more opportunity to release the healing impulses in spring that have been cultivated all winter.
